Rafael completed his Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary, where he also graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  During law school, Rafael volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada as a Project Coordinator for the Immigration Project, and with Student Legal Assistance as a student caseworker, providing legal services to diverse clients. Prior to joining Hendrix Law, Rafael was a member of a general practice mid-sized law firm in Calgary and for a number of years appeared in the Court of King’s Bench and the Alberta Court of Justice where he handled Family, Child Welfare and Employment files.

Rafael believes that the best way to serve his clients is to look for cost-effective methods to resolve their unique legal matters. However, if early resolution is not possible, Rafael is not afraid to take the case in front of the Court and confidently argue the strengths of each case. Rafael is comfortable appearing and has successfully conducted trials and hearings in both the Court of King’s Bench and the Alberta Court of Justice. Rafael makes it a point to have frequent, transparent, and open communication with his clients as he believes that client involvement and understanding goes a long way toward the successful resolution of their respective matters.

Rafael is an active member in the Filipino Calgarian community and can provide services in Tagalog (Filipino) and English. Rafael has travelled extensively, having visited countries such as Spain, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Greece, and the United Arab Emirates. When not appearing in front of Applications Judges in Court or otherwise in the office, you can find Rafael enjoying a stroll through one of Calgary’s beautiful parks or keeping up to date with the latest NBA news.
